Dr. John Lucey is the Owen R. Fennema Professor of Food Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Director of the Center for Dairy Research (CDR). John earned his PhD at University College Cork (Ireland) in 1992. He has conducted research in Ireland, the Netherlands, and New Zealand before joining the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. John has published around 160 peer-reviewed papers and has advised over 50 graduate students. He teaches and conducts research on the chemistry and molecular basis for the functionality of dairy products. He is a Fellow of the American Dairy Science Association and a recipient of the Babcock Award. He is also the principal investigator for the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA), a regional center covering Midwest states that is funded by the USDA to support innovation and entrepreneurship in the dairy sector.
